The Mother City will be hit by a storm of culinary delights and innovation as the best chefs in the world descend upon the CTICC for the Good Food & Wine Show. Come experience our wide range of interactive theatres, and see your favourite local and international chefs live at the Chefs in Action Theatre. The Good Food & Wine Show, the continent’s premier culinary event and exhibition platform will open its doors at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from Friday the 2nd of June to Sunday the 4th of June 2017, sating the appetites of audiences hungry for a fresh show.
Under the expert guidance of new owners, Fiera Milano Exhibitions Africa (FMEA) – one of the world’s leading operators in the exhibition industry – this year’s Show will feature a brand new look and feel and be packed with juicy new offerings and immersive experiences for the whole family. The show also offers attendees bang for their buck with a bigger show, more seating and space in which to explore the latest trends, take in talks and enjoy interactive experiences with chefs, experts and special guests in the various theatres.
In keeping with the recently revealed ‘Fresh’ theme for this year’s show, eight exciting focus areas appealing to the tastes of both new and seasoned visitors will be introduced. These include Wellness; Lifestyle; Wine; Beer & Alcohol; Kids; Market; Baking and Gourmet. Under each focus area, audiences will get to interact with exhibitors, uncover the latest trends and take part in entertaining and informative hands-on experiences.
According to Maria Chieppa, Managing Director of Fiera Milano Exhibitions Africa, “With food and drinks touching so many areas of our lives, we felt it only fitting to design the Show in a way that reflects this. We also believe that offering an experiential element adds to the magic of the event – creating memories for our visitors.”
Curator Hannerie Visser, has designed a show that will allow the thousands of anticipated visitors to explore and enjoy the latest trends in lifestyle and design, and experience a number of unique sensory experiences associated with good food and wine. What’s more, the Show, in its new format, promises to be a platform at the disposal of the industry. “It’s a space to connect, share, and to enjoy one of the best things in the world – Food!” says Visser.
A highlight of every Show is catching the celebrity chefs in action at the Chefs Open Theatre. This year, visitors will be delighted to hear that there is no additional cost to see local and international chefs, the likes of Jenny Morris (The Giggling Gourmet), Christo Pretorius (Executive chef, Azure at the 12 Apostles Hotel), Siba Mtongana (Chef), David Goette and many more...
Those wanting to put their own culinary talents to the test can cook alongside these gastronomic greats in the Cooking with The Chefs Theatre. Alternatively, they can add to their résumé of recipes at the Masterclasses on offer at the Chefs Table.
The restaurant quarter- 8 top restaurants will offer their signature dishes from their winter menu. The Celebrity theatre (sponsored by Woolworths & Robertsons) will focus on flavours of the world (Woolworths card holders get 10% off the theatre entry). The interactive theatre focuses on 'how to' make things e.g cake decorating, pasta, etc.
Kitchen Trends will be presented by Paul Duncan who will present the kitchen of the future, the farmhouse kitchen, the global kitchen and the sustainable kitchen. Tasting hub offering a programme of tastings of coffee, tea, Grappa, beer, etc.
For Children, the enormously popular CBeebies presenter, Katy Ashworth will be showing kids how to have fun with healthy cooking-from lunchbox assembling and smoothie creations to interactive gardening workshops.
Cheryl Ozinsky, who has developed the Oranjezicht urban farm, will be showing visitors how they can not only grow their own vegetables but also how to grow special vegetables. Seductive nutrition - what's sometimes regarded as serious is made a given a more light-hearted touch to make it yummy and sexy. This pavilion will specifically appeal to those who prefer to eat raw and organic foods and, of course, people who have food intolerances.
Writers Block- for all food and wine writers and bloggers to gather, write, post, network and issue their words on all that they see at the show. This space is also designed to encourage budding bloggers to get writing. Wine regions- what's new for this section is that all the wines at the show will be divided into their regions, so, wines from Constantia, Robertson, Elgin, Paarl, Elim, Stellenbosch, etc, will all be groupe
