Table Mountain and the surrounding Cape mountains have an abundance of excellent hiking trails and walking trails that will take you through attractive and scenic mountainous landscapes. Overlooking the city and urban areas of Cape Town you have the famous landmark of Table Mountain towering above the city. The distinctive lure of Table Mountain comes not only from its famous silhouette but also from its diverse, natural habitat that has so much for you to explore.

Itinerary

Exploring the Back and Front Tables and three hidden valleys, this full day hike allows you to appreciate the true beauty of Table Mountain.

Ascend Kasteelspoort from the Twelve Apostles side of Table Mountain and pause to admire the Atlantic coastline, Lion's Head and Camps Bay. Once at the top of the gorge hike through the three valleys with their lichen covered rocks and formations en route to Maclear's Beacon, the highest point. Now on the flat plateau easy walking takes us to our lunch spot on the edge overlooking the panorama of the city, Table Bay and the western coastline.

After lunch continue along the plateau to the top of Patteklip Gorge and descend this route (time permitting) or if you prefer by cableway.

Participant Guidelines

  • Wear good walking shoes and bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, a jersey or a jacket.
  • In winter, warmer clothing is a must, including a rain jacket.
  • Refreshments are provided, and lunch is provided.
  • All walks are undertaken at participants own risk and are subject to weather conditions.
  • It is the discretion of the client to indicate if they wish to book a private walk, or if they are willing to walk with other people.
  • Mixed group size is restricted to a maximum of eight.
  • Walks are available on request.
