Volunteering Adventure: Surfing Outreach

Duration: 28 day(s) - Location: Muizenberg

This project has a social responsibility to empower young people from disadvantaged communities in the Cape area in surfing and life skills. This project is based in Muizenberg which is famous for surfing and the constant waves that create the perfect environment for the exciting sport. Many young people from poor communities who have benefited from this project live a life that is more meaningful and promising for them now. Volunteers enjoy working with these young people and sharing their skills and knowledge with them. Many volunteers learn to surf well themselves as training is also given to them.

Itinerary

Duties of the volunteer includes: 

- Working in the surfshop hiring wetsuits and boards
- Receiving tuition and training on surfing yourself
- Surfing instruction to public and local children
- Interacting with surf school children and giving them lots of encouragement
- Have fun and improve your own surfing skills  


Participant guidelines

Includes:

- Transport to and from Cape Town International Airport on commencement day and on final day of the tour
- Welcome dinner and orientation
- Self-catering accommodation
- 3 day tour of the Western Cape after volunteering period

Excludes: 

- Food and laundry
