Roland’s interest and exposure to the tourism industry started some 20 years ago when he worked in a popular ski resort in Switzerland. He has a diverse background of experience and manages several businesses.
Roland has the ability to interact positively with his co-workers and motivate his staff to achieve excellence. Always looking for new opportunities and challenges coupled with high standards and attention to detail, resulted in creating an exclusive guesthouse known as The Sir David.
His passion, dedication and hands-on approach has been the foundation and cornerstone to the success of The Sir David Boutique guest house. Roland Kugelmann is a very sociable person and is passionate about his family and the tourism industry. He is a keen sportsman and enjoys taking part in outdoor adventure sports.
Claire Dinnie - general manager
Claire’s tourism career started some 17 years ago after returning from her overseas travels. Gripped by the excitement and vibrancy of the travel industry, she gained a diploma in travel and tourism and then began to work her way through the many different and diverse aspects of the industry. She spent time in an airline working as a ground hostess, guiding overland adventure safaris throughout southern and East Africa, running the operations of a highly respected tour operator, designing holiday packages throughout southern Africa for international travellers and managing popular guest houses.
Claire’s passions include travel, nature and the outdoors, adventure sports and social interactions. As general manager of The Sir David Boutique Guest House, she is committed to outstanding service, with a smile, going the extra mile ensuring that each guests’ experience exceeds their expectations.

Committed to recycling, refusing and reducing where ever possible. Equipped with solar geysers, water-saving shower heads, energy saving light bulbs throughout the guest house.
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
The Sir David Penguin
For every conference booked at The Sir David Boutique Guest House we will donate 3% of the proceeds to SANCCOB, which will help them save and rehabilitate penguins in and around the Southern African region. For every R500 your company raises through this initiative you will receive your very own souvenir Sir David Penguin.
SANCCOB aims to conserve and protect Southern Africa´s sea birds, especially threatened species, for the benefit of present and future generations.
Core Function:
• Rehabilitate oiled, injured, ill and artificially rearing orphaned seabirds on a daily basis
• Prepare for and manage the rehabilitation of seabirds during a major oil spill
• Raise awareness about conservation through environmental education
• Collaborate on research projects
