Sugar Hotel and Spa
Sustainability
Riaan Vermaak and Marc van Rooyen are the owners of the hotel as of May 2010. They have extensive experience running 5 star establishments including the Athol Place in Sandton Johannesburg.
They have come up with a homely concept with the renovations that took place from April to September 2011 while retaining the pursuit of service excellence that has been a part of the ethos at Sugar Hotel.

Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:
The main area of focus for Sugar Hotel and Spa is always been recycling and this is practiced on the daily running of the hotel.
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
Sugar Hotel is a green hotel and they emphasise on recycling all recyclable matter. They have also taken to saving on electricity switching off all geysers in rooms not occupied (each room has its own geyser and they have seven rooms only which make them easy to manage). The pool pumps are only switched on when cleaning them and the hotel is consistently looking for ways to save energy consumption.
