Thandi Peter

Ma Neo's was started in 2002, when Thandi Peter realised that she could use her home as a destination for accommodation. The name is made up of Ma, for Mama and Neo, the name of her daugher. Thandi heard a programme on the radio about B&B's in Khayelitsha and she felt that this was precisely the right thing for her. She called the guesthouse in Khayelitsha for more information, and they suggested Thandi do a relevant course, which is what she did. At that time, Langa was becoming a popular tourist destination, but there were two restaurants and no accommodation. Thandi knew that her product would complement other businesses and encourage guests to stay longer, and spend more money in Langa.
