Lagoon Beach Hotel and Spa
Sustainability
This accommodation provider has taken action to address one or more issues (whether environmental, social or cultural) which will contribute positively to the long term viability of the destination and hence their site displays a Caring for the destination rating.
Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:
At Lagoon Beach 4 star hotel Cape Town, they understand that it takes a village to raise a child and that every little gesture counts. Gandhi said, ‘‘Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed”. With those wise words in mind, the hotel does what it can with what it has in the hope that their small contribution can make a big difference.
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
Reach for a Dream
2010 - The hotel is a proud sponsor of Reach for a Dream, an organisation that fulfils the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses. We proudly treat the children and their families to a dream ‘beach holiday’ at the hotel – hoping that this small gesture assists in making a few dreams come true.
2011 - The Hotel has sponsored a hole at the inaugural golf day on the 20th of May 2011 at the Clovelly Country Club, with the special prize of accommodation in their Presidential Suite, with Dinner and Breakfast.
Sharing Abundant Life Together is a registered Non Profit and Public Benefit Organisations, in order to bring change and uplift the local community.
As a proud supporter of SANCCOB (The Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds), the hotel sponsor weekends in our Presidential Suite for SANCOB to use in auctions or as prizes in competitions to raise money to perform the great work that they do. Adopt a penguin. Help save the world, one penguin at a time. African Penguins have reduced in numbers by 90% since the 1930s as a result of human activities. They are considered to be threatened and vulnerable to extinction.
Lagoon Beach Hotel & Spa currently donates linen to Heaven's Nest Childcare and Recreation Centre whose "mission is to shower abundant, uncompromising love on children who have been legally declared in need of care".
The Hotel have made a donation to the Big issue in May 2011.
St Georges Home for Girls
While their home was receiving a makeover recently, the hotel supplied the entire St Georges Home for Girls with great food and comfortable accommodation.
Donations
The hotel donates linen on a regular basis to orphanages in need.
