The Guest House is furnished with tasteful antiques and fine fabrics and set in peaceful surroundings. Every effort has been made to enhance the marble and wooden floors, pressed ceilings, large shuttered sash windows, balustrades and fireplaces of the original.
Highlands Country House boutique hotel is a place of warm welcome and ultimate comfort. Every piece has been carefully chosen to give pleasure to the eye and rest to the body. Every attempt has been made to assure high standards and to offer extensive luxury facilities to the most discerning guest.
Elegantly furnished, from every room long sash windows overlook the terraced Italian gardens and water features with two sparkling pools. Relax and enjoy sumptuous breakfasts, with lunch and dinner prepared by resident chef when requested.
Facilities & Services
Many hours of pleasure can be attained in the lounge, library and the intimate private bar, colonial sitting room, romantic dining conservatory or the large elegant billiard room.
This colonial Country House has a peaceful charm about it. Being the mansion that it was, and still is, the lounge areas at Highlands have high ceilings & wooden floors.
The main lounge invites guests to settle into comfortable chairs by the fireplace, in the library the shelves are teaming with good books & journals and the boardroom transforms itself into a billiard room for a quiet evening game. Enjoy a drink in the elegant bar or relax at the pool with a favourite author. Take tea on the patio under big shady umbrellas or lunch the conservatory, meet friends for breakfast or simply enjoy your room. At Highlands you are sure to find an ideal space to enjoy & make your own for your stay.
Conferencing
Baker Room - Named after our famous architect the Baker Room can seat upwards of 25 people depending on the seating format chosen.
This room is close to the entrance of Highlands and looks out onto the fish pond & garden. It has large sliding windows, a built in Screen & air conditioning. It is adjacent to the bar lounge which provides the ideal setting for breakouts, snacks or after conference drinks. All the necessary equipment will be supplied, we are happy to make arrangements on your behalf to hire any other additional items you may require.
Board Room - The boardroom is designed to seat twelve delegates around a large custom made table. This room was originally the dining room of our Sir Herbert Baker home. It still boasts the original pressed ceilings, oregon floors, large sash windows and the large fireplace.
For breaks during the day, the boardroom adjoins the lounge where teas & coffees are served as required; however there are also other suitable break out areas such as the library or indeed secluded areas of the garden or the conservatory.
All the necessary equipment is supplied.
The Highlands Bar
Available only to our guests. The cosy bar with it’s own outside courtyard is perfect for a get-together after your conference. An ideal venue where delegates staying over can meet up, or can also be used as an additional break out area.
Conservatory
This bright sunny room in the garden near the top pool is a favorite venue for a business breakfast or even a motivational seminar. Seating is limited to 10 to 12 people to allow space for buffets & tea or coffee stations to be set up.
Soma spa
Soma Studio offers relaxing and effective salon therapies in the ranquil environment at Highlands Country House. At Soma Studio, the focus is on balancing and pampering the body. Soma Studio offers a wide selection of face and body therapies, as well as packages, all using South African products.

• Children are most welcome at Highlands under very strict supervision
• Children between 0 and 11 can share with their parents levied at R540 per child (limited to two children)

- 100% Cancellation charge for total accommodation reserved if cancelled 7 or fewer days in advance; (this is also applicable to all “no-shows” and premature departure);
- 75% Cancellation charge for total accommodation reserved if cancelled between 7 and 14 days prior to arrival;
- 50% Cancellation charge as outlined above if cancelled between 15 and 21 days prior to arrival;
- 25% Cancellation charge as outlined above if cancelled between 22 and 30 days prior to arrival.
- Unforeseen cancellations due to war, unrest, administrative issues (e.g. invalid travel documents etc) or any other related circumstances are subject to the above mentioned terms and do not constitute a valid reason for waiver of the cancellation policy terms. Deposits are non-refundable.
